The 53rd annual Detroit Autorama is this weekend and The Poor Boys have been hard at work on our display for the Autorama Extreme in the lower level at Cobo Hall. This year it’s sponsored by Ol’ Skool Rods and they’re calling it Autorama 1953 instead, whatever that means. Taken at our research facility and test track is this smuggled picture of the centerpiece. I can’t say much, but the theme is Poor Boys Thrill Show and it seeks to recreate the traveling daredevil thrill shows of the 50s and 60s. Come down and say Hi and ride our kiddie ride (if you are a kiddie that is). Also, we will have a booth to promote our new car show: Sins of Steel (formerly Billetproof). The show is in Davisburg at the 4H Fairgrounds, same as before, but we have added even more attractions this year and the show now belongs entirely to US. I’ll post more on that next month, but the website is in the works right now.

I’m stoked to announce my newest show, Circus Mobius, in conjunction with LIFT Gallery (click here for press release) (click here for map). For this show I’ve teamed up with one of my favorite Detroit artists, Audrey Pongracz, to create a body of new paintings and vinyl toys. The opening on Saturday December 12th will continue with the carnival theme and feature flame eaters, circus food, and costumes. Come dressed up in you best carnival getup, Audrey and I will be! Pick up Real Detroit next week for more info. See you there!
The Lincolns UK proudly release their debut album Hot Blonde Bitches November 14th at the Park Bar in Detroit. Recorded in the summer of 2009 at High Bias Recordings in Detroit by underground scenester Chris Koltay, the album captures the raw energy of The Lincolns UK and harnesses it in a limited edition vinyl EP and a full length CD, together in one package. Listen to preview tracks at myspace.com/thelincolnsukdetroit. Come help us celebrate the release at The Park Bar and support local live rock’n'roll!
I had a comment asking where I’d put the battery, and it occurred to me that I didn’t really post any pics of how I rearranged and compressed the electrical system. So here’s a tour… read more »

For this mission, we were sent to participate in extreme sports at the AGA games and try to pick up a few tips from the pros. They make it look so easy!
Like Motorhead tells us: “You know the chase is better than the catch.” And maybe that’s what it came down to for me, because as I was wrapping up all this work on the bike and taking it out for shakedown runs, I found myself thinking that I wanted to sell it. read more »
This month was Social Activism Month so Mission Control and our mission was to hold a can drive to benefit a local charity. On top of that, Ford kicked in a check for $500. Jen and I put the call out to all of our friends and filled up the fiesta with food and hauled it on down to Gleaners Community Food Bank in Detroit. Thanks to every one that donated food!!!
This month was Style Month, and Mission Control sent us $400 in AmEx gift cards and asked us to eat our way through the day from breakfast to dinner at 5 of the best-designed restaurants around the D. The objective was to find out if the people that work there are inspired by the environment they work in. So, we hit Toast, The Emory, The Elwood, Ronin, and The Whitney (which is haunted!). Here’s what we found out.
This Wednesday, in collaboration with Joshua Adams/Kitchen Sink, I’ll be having an opening at Goodnight Gracie in Royal Oak. The event starts at 8:30 and Joshua Adams spins old school funk/soul classic rock and hiphop. Art will be on display for one week. The vibe is relaxed. I’ll be there as well just chillin’ and swillin’ so come hang out. There will be a mix of originals and prints there for sale so come and pick up something new. See you there!
I have been making some headway on the XS 650 lately and I’m happy to say that I rode it today and it’s a blast. The list of mods includes fabricating a rear fender and mounts, relocating the battery, regulator, rectifier and solenoid, a headlight swap and lowering, lowered forks, lowered rear, solo seat, chopper wiring, painting the tank and fender, high flow exhaust, single points conversion, high output coil, high flow air filters and a general shaving of all extraneous parts. My friend says it looks like a bike Steve McQueen would ride. That is probably the highest compliment I could have been paid for all this hard work.
